What are Movement Mondays?

Movement Mondays are a Student Life online initiative geared toward providing students with a summer health and fitness program. Beginning on July 13th , a running and walking program will be released weekly on Monday mornings at 9 am on the Student Life Instagram and Facebook page that will set fitness goals to aim for that week. If you are a UNBC student participating in either the running or the walking program, you will be able to share your progress in an exercise group on the free app called Strava. On each Monday evening for those eight weeks, there will also be an online yoga session ran by a certified instructor over zoom.

Running

The running program will provide a series of workouts that will increase endurance so that, by the end of the program, the participant will be able to complete a 5 kilometre run with no breaks. Each monday, a 30 minute workout that consists of intervals of running and walking will be posted that can be completed in your own time over the course of the week. This program is perfect for all levels of fitness!

Walking

The walking program of Movement Mondays features a walk around Prince George that will be posted online along with the running program. There will be a goal reflecting the duration and step count for each walk that will become progressively more challenging with each new walk.

Yoga

The yoga program of Movement Mondays features an online zoom class with a certified instructor and other UNBC students at 6:30 pm every Monday evening. The yoga class will improve flexibility and recovery, while also providing a platform for UNBC students to connect. To register for the class, click here.
