"Charity is Unethical" -- An Oxford Debate

Students in the UNBC Environmental and Professional Ethics 414 course invite you to attend their (Oxford-style) public debate that is part of the general course assessment. Audience participation is encouraged!
Dr. Phil Burton will preside.

What's an Oxford Debate?
  • An Oxford debate follows the basic model of weighing the pros and cons for a proposition. They are orally presented by opposing teams (in this case pairs of students) who take turns presenting arguments in support of the proposition and against it.
  • A presider keeps time and consults with the audience as to which side is being favoured by them prior to the debate and at the end. The proposition for this debate is “CHARITY IS UNETHICAL”. The presenters encourage the audience to ask them questions.

We look forward to a constructive, interactive debate with your support!
