Abstract:  David Whitehurst is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Health Sciences at Simon Fraser University, and co-lead of the BC SUPPORT Unit Health Economics and Simulation Modelling (HESM) Methods Cluster (https://bcsupportunit.ca/health-economics-simulation-modelling). He is an economist who has specialized in the areas of health and health care throughout his career, with research interests and expertise that focus on the measurement, valuation and validation of health and wellbeing outcomes within the field of economic evaluation. During this talk, Dr Whitehurst will examine what patient-oriented research means within the context of health economics, and discuss the role and activities of the HESM cluster (e.g., funded projects, community-building events and opportunities for collaboration).
The goal of this visit is to promote an understanding of the role of the Methods Clusters, the HESM Methods Cluster in particular, and to generate interest in potential collaborations in health economics and simulation modelling patient-oriented research.
