President's Speaker Series Welcomes Dr. Alexis Mootoo

Date:
Tuesday, November 20, 2018 - 2:30pm to 3:30pm
Location:
Canfor Theatre
Campus:
Prince George

Everyone is invited to join Dr. Alexis Mootoo, Chief Operations Officer for the Vice-President of Student Affairs and Student Success at the University of South Florida, who will be our featured guest for the next installment of the President's Speaker Series on November 20.

Universities provide a venue to facilitate the exchange of differing viewpoints, but with the recent rise in racist rhetoric around the world, campuses across the country have been struggling with a surge in intolerance.

Diversity and inclusivity are two of our core values and we recognize the importance of fostering dialogue that addresses the issues of race and inequality in higher education.

Dr. Mootoo will be delivering a timely presentation titled, The Tensions of Race in Liberal Spaces: What is Happening?

In addition to her role as a Senior Administrator, she teaches courses in Political Science, Latin American Studies, Africana Studies and Humanities.

Dr.Mootoo holds a Ph.D in Government from the University of South Florida, and is a McKnight Scholar, receiving several grants for research projects in North and Latin America.

Please bring a non-perishable food item to donate to the Northern Undergraduate Student Society.

The presentation will be livestreamed at www.unbc.ca/livestream.
