The emergence of restorative procedures such as clitoral restoration surgery (CRS) has sparked interest from survivors of female genital cutting (FGC) who seek to alleviate pain, improve clitoral sensitivity, and enhance their sense of self. This talk will explore survivors’ motivations in electing to undergo CRS, evaluate criticisms of the surgery’s effectiveness and accessibility, and highlight alternative paths survivors might take along their healing journeys.
