Recognizing our Faculty
Due to the necessary response to the Coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) the Convocation Ceremonies previously scheduled for May 29, 2020 have had their format adapted to a virtual ceremony on June 26. You can read the most recent statement issued by UNBC’s Interim President here: Convocation Update. We therefore may delay the presentation and recognition of the University Excellence Awards until a later date. Details will be shared as they become available.
Typically during the Convocation ceremonies, outstanding faculty at UNBC are recognized through University Excellence Awards in four areas: Professional Practice, Mentorship or Stewardship; Research; Service; and Teaching.
Professional Practice, Mentorship or Stewardship
The University Excellence Award for Professional Practice, Mentorship or Stewardship recognizes: (1) exemplary achievement in the professional practice of Librarians, Senior Lab Instructors, and Faculty Members (in professional disciplines such as Nursing, Education, Social Work, Business, Environmental Planning), at the University, within the community, or within the profession; (2) substantive impact by a Member in the growth and development of other Members, students or staff through a program of mentorship; or (3) excellence in stewardship by any Member at the University, within the community, or within the profession.
The University Excellence Award for Research seeks to acknowledge UNBC Faculty Association Members who are deemed exceptional researchers and scholars.
The University Excellence Award for Service recognizes exemplary service by UNBC Faculty Association Members to the University, to the community, and to their professions.
The University Excellence Award for Teaching seeks to acknowledge UNBC Faculty Association Members who are exceptional teachers and is a student nominated award.
