Has Convocation been cancelled?
Convocation 2020, previously scheduled for May 29, 2020, will be modified to a virtual ceremony on June 26, 2020 to ensure graduates can celebrate their momentous occasion. We will continue to provide updates on details. We are also committed to holding a traditional face-to-face ceremony for the Class of 2020 once we have received the green light to safely hold events under the guidance of federal and provincial health agencies.
What is the new date for celebrating graduation?
The new virtual ceremony date is June 26, 2020. It is not yet known when we will be able to have a face-to-face ceremony. We will continue to provide updates on details as they become available for both events.
Will I still graduate even though there is no in-person Convocation ceremony on May 29, 2020?
Yes, students who have successfully completed requirements for their credentials will graduate.
I am completing the final coursework required for my degree on a Letter of Permission, but will not be finished by May, will I still be able to graduate this year?
Students who had submitted an Application for Graduation for the May 2020 degree conferral will be moved ahead to the September 2020 degree conferral. You will not need to submit a new application for graduation or pay to re-apply. Simply email: firstname.lastname@example.org to let us know that you will be moving your degree conferral to September. Degree parchments are printed following each conferral, and will also be available at this time. Students who have their degrees conferred in September 2020 are eligible to attend the 2021 Convocation Ceremony.
I am supposed to be graduating in May 2020, how will I receive my degree parchments if there is no Convocation ceremony?
Degree parchments are expected to be distributed in June 2020. Students will need to RSVP for the virtual ceremony before April 30 in order to confirm their mailing address. Parchments will be sent to graduates via expedited delivery/courier at no charge. In person pick-up at the Prince George campus will be dependent on Public Health regulations at the time.
Please note, that any fees owing may still impede receipt of your parchment.
I submitted an RSVP, do I need to do anything else?
Yes, you must update your previously submitted RSVP so we can capture up to date mailing addresses. Please follow the instructions found here unbc.ca/convocation/checklist under the RSVP section.

My family has booked travel, what about refunds?
Contact your airlines directly or your booking partner/travel agent if applicable to determine the effects of cancelling flights. If you and your guests have booked accommodations, please contact service providers directly.
Can I still have graduation photos taken?
Artona is not available to do graduation photo sessions at this time, but the Convocation Office will be working with them to re-schedule in the future.
I have a question about graduation and Convocation that has not been answered. Who do I contact?
