Guest FAQ: Convocation at the Prince George Campus

Who do I contact to get information on the Class of 2024 Convocation ceremony?

Ask your family or friend who is graduating. In accordance with Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy regulations, we cannot give out personal information about students. However, you have various methods of getting important information.

How do I get guest tickets?

Each graduate must register their guests. For the Class of 2024 convocation ceremony, each guest will require a ticket for entry. Graduates are allotted four tickets, and can be wait listed for an additional two guest tickets should venue capacity permit.  Additional tickets will be considered after May 6 once first round guest tickets have been allocated.

If I have accessibility, mobility or closed-captioning needs and require assistance or seating accommodations, who do I contact?

Please let your graduand know you require seating accommodations. They will be asked to specify accessibility, mobility and closed-captioning questions when they register their guest tickets online. The Convocation Office will follow up with graduands who identify guests requiring assistance or seating accommodations.

When should I arrive at the ceremony to get a good seat?

Guests are allowed to arrive one hour prior to the ceremony, and line up outside the Northern Sport Centre (NSC). All guests must have a guest ticket, there is general seating on the bleachers (must be able to navigate stairs). Those with access/mobility needs should advise their graduand so floor seating can be arranged in the Accessible Seating area floor level.

What happens if I can't get a ticket?

There will be a live stream option for remote viewing available on the UNBC Convocation website. For those guests who cannot get a guest ticket for the NSC Gymnasium, there will be a live stream/audience overflow area at the main campus in the Canfor Theatre (Room 6-213) and Lhuhuhwhezdel: The Gathering Place (Rm 5-123).

What happens if I forget my ticket?

Guests will not be granted entry into the ceremony without a ticket. Please visit the front desk of the NSC for assistance.

Note: Due to privacy reasons, the graduand must confirm your identity in order to re-issue you a ticket.

Can I hand flowers to my graduand during the ceremony?

Flowers are NOT permitted within the NSC gymnasium, however... You can bring flowers into the NSC lobby area where there will be Greeters who will take the flowers and put them aside. Flowers can be picked up after the ceremony at the same location. You can also order flowers online and arrange to have them waiting at the NSC lobby for you to give to your graduate after the ceremony.

Can I take photos during the ceremony?

Professional photographers will be at the Ceremony to take photos of graduates as they come across the stage, and do an individual photo afterwards.  Guests are encouraged to remain seated during the Ceremony.

How can I help my graduand on the day?

Please be respectful of, and adhere to instructions given by, traffic and parking attendants.
