JAWS converts text displayed on a computer screen into synthesized speech, allowing students who are blind or have significant visual impairments to navigate digital content, documents, and web pages independently. The software also includes features such as braille display support, customizable speech settings, and keyboard shortcuts to enhance accessibility and productivity.
