June 22, 1990 marked the date that the BC Legislature passed the UNBC Act, officially creating the University of Northern British Columbia. It has been an impressive 25+ years for UNBC, from the public campaign for a northern university in the late 1980s, to the construction campus in the early 1990s, grand opening by Queen Elizabeth II in August 1994, to being an institution with over 11,000 graduates in 2015.

Members of the university community marked this milestone over a ten month anniversary period with a variety of events and projects that served to recognize UNBC's past, present and future.
