Player to Watch:
Tianna Rossi, F
Playing in her fifth and final season with UNBC, Rossi opened the year with a two-goal performance against TRU. Often the smallest player on the pitch, the Prince George product has an ability to find the soft spots in the opposition defense.

Daines is back with the Pandas after an excellent 2016 season, where she notched seven goals and 12 points. Her point total was good for fifth in Canada West, and she will be looking to get on the scoresheet for the first time this season this weekend.

Quotes:
UNBC’s Kylie Erb
On the strong start to the season, and playing on home field…
“Everyone is so excited. Having the home crowd gave everyone energy, and it is so nice the hard work is paying off. Having fans there makes you want to fight that much harder and play that much better for them.”
On the Timberwolves’ approach this season…
“I think in years past, we focused a lot on defending, and this year we have focused on attacking. It’s nice to see different girls scoring goals. The whole team builds up and we are getting results.”
On Friday’s matchup with Mount Royal…
“We were so unhappy with how we played against them last year, so that gives us a lot of want to prove ourselves. We know we can play better than we did. They will be a good, strong team, but if we play the way we can play, we should be successful.”
On Sunday’s matchup with Alberta…
“They have fast girls up front, so if we play defensively like we did this past weekend, and still attack together, we should be ok.”
On preparing for two opponents in one weekend..
“Once the first game is done, we need to forget about it, put it behind us, and focus on the next. If we focus on how we play, that is how we will have success.”
