PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. -- Following in the footsteps of her sister Madison, Hannah Emmond has officially committed to join the University of Northern British Columbia Women’s soccer program for the 2017-2018 season.

The product of the Prince George Youth Soccer Association, the midfielder says it is a dream come true.

“I’m super excited to officially be a UNBC Timberwolf,” she said. “I have wanted this for years, so I am excited to have this finalized now.”

Madison Emmond, who has played three seasons with UNBC, will now be joined by her 17-year-old sister on the roster. Hannah suggests the chance to suit up alongside family sweetened the pot.

“Being able to play with my sister is really awesome,” said Madison. “We work well together on the pitch, and I idolize her, so it will be fun to play with her.”

Set to graduate from Kelly Road Secondary School in June, Hannah became familiar with Timberwolves coach Neil Sedgwick’s approach by practising with the UNBC squad.

“Once Neil came in, we had that connection,” she said. “I think he is an awesome coach and it really made my decision to come to UNBC. I like how everyone connects. They are a such a strong team, making great progress.”

Sedgwick says the Whitecaps Showcase All-Star selection quickly asserted herself as an impact player in those practice sessions.

“Hannah is such a competitive and driven individual,” said Sedqwick. “As our program continues to grow, it is players with that competitiveness who will be the key to our success in Canada West.”

Playing predominantly midfield in her formative years, Emmond will likely be used in a number of positions on the pitch. She already has her goals set for her freshman year, and beyond.

“I want to see how I play at this level, but I am hoping to start some games and earn my playing time,” she said “I am hoping to bring my aggressiveness to the team. I want to bring my attack style to the Timberwolves, and hopefully score a couple goals.”
