  The Hazeltons

The Hazeltons are a cluster of three distinct communities located at the confluence of the Bulkley and Skeena Rivers. The Gitksan community of Gitanmaaks has its administrative centre in Old Hazelton. New Hazelton and South Hazelton are primarily residential and retail centres. The Wet'suwet'en community of Hagwilget is also in the area and the outlying Gitksan communities of Kispiox, Gitwangak, Gitanyow and Gitzagukla also rely on services from the Hazeltons. There is a large sawmill nearby (Carnaby). The 'Ksan village complex is a significant tourist attraction, and the fishing in the nearby Kispiox River also draws visitors to the area. The Hazeltons are served by School District 82, and NWCC has a campus there offering a certificate in Forestry. UNBC's web courses are accessible in the Hazeltons.
