Department of Psychology admission requirements

Graduate admissions

Applicants must have an Honours or undergraduate degree in Psychology (or related field) with research experience.

Students Interested in applying for the MSc or PhD in Psychology are responsible for ensuring that all application materials are received at UNBC by the application deadline, January 15.

  • A completed online application form,
  • A statement of interest with a list of potential supervisors (if applicable),
    • A statement of interest is a detailed discussion of specific goals and objectives in pursuing an advanced degree and a discussion of specific interests within a research group
  • Official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions (Unofficial transcripts should be uploaded with the online application, with official transcripts to follow by post),
  • An up-to-date C.V. (Curriculum Vitae),
  • Three names and email addresses for academic referees, and
  • An excerpt of a thesis or paper submitted for course work (maximum 10 pages).

All documents must be uploaded through the EducationPlannerBC website by December 15 of each year for September admission.

Official transcripts must be sent directly from the issuing institution, or in a sealed institutional envelope, by the application deadline. Send transcripts to:
