Get
ready to push your fitness farther than you ever thought possible. Work out
like a boxer using heavy bags and air drills in this unique program. This is no
choreographed Cardio Box group class. Your muscles will ache and your lungs
will scream, but in just 4 weeks you’ll see results.
Watch for our new times for September 2011 for this popular class!
This class is non-contact and will not
involve sparring. All participants must
bring their own boxing gloves. Hand wraps are also highly recommended. Start-up
kits (including10oz gloves, heavy bag gloves, a skipping rope, and hand wraps)
are available for purchase at the NSC Front Desk for $45.00. The NSC will not
supply gloves to be shared.
This
training program will prepare you for a 21.1km run by combining one group
training run each week with take-home workouts. Race preparation – including
the importance of nutrition, stretching, and proper warm-ups – will also be
covered.
Saturdays March 19-June 4 12-1:30pm $82.50/11
Target Race Date: first week of June. No previous ½ marathon or road race experience is required, but
participants must be able to run 10km with only
one walk break, and must have been running regularly for at least the
past 6 months.
Strengthen and
stabilize your body and your mind. With the controlled tempo and poses of Hatha
and a progressive teaching method, this class will give you a solid foundation
for your yoga practice. Improve your flexibility, balance, core stability and
strength while reducing stress and improving body awareness. All levels
welcome.
Tuesdays 9-10:25am $90.00
Nia fuses dance,
martial arts, and yoga-style exercises into one holistic fitness experience. It
can be a high-intensity workout or a chance to gently explore the mind-body
connection – the choice is yours.
Thursdays 5:30-6:25pm $60.00
Bounce
back to your pre-baby body – or better!
Load up the strollers and use the kids as rolling resistance, or come on
your own for some “me time”. This class combines cardio and resistance
training, using the track and our new circuit stations.
Mondays/Wednesdays 11-11:55am $112.50
This small group
class will take the fear out of weight training by tackling myths and
stereotypes head-on. Learn the principles and training methods to be efficient
and successful in the weight room.
This upbeat class
blends Latin beats with simple choreography to create a program that takes the
“work” out of your workout! The routines are based on a combination of fast and
slow movements to burn fat.
Tuesdays 5:30-6:25-6pm $60.00
Using a contemporary approach to Pilates, this class incorporates modern exercise principles to give you the best Pilates workout possible. Enhance your functional fitness, improve strength and flexibility, and increase core strength and stability. This no-impact class is suitable for everyone from the beginner to athletes looking to add a new element to their workout, thanks to a flowing series of movements that can be modified to suit all abilities. This class is lead by a STOTT certified instructor.
Monday/Wednesday 6:30-7:25pm $112.50
Important Registration Information
- Register in person (payment by cash, cheque payable to "Northern Sport Centre", credit card, or debit) or on the phone (payment by credit card).
- Payment is required to complete and confirm all registrations -- you cannot reserve a spot in the class without full payment.
- Classes not meeting the minimum enrollment 48 hours prior to start time will be cancelled. Register early to avoid disappointment!
