Students interested
in applying to the NRES Graduate Program would typically follow these
procedures.
Identify the degree you are interested in
pursuing. The NRES Graduate Program
offers MA and MSc
options in several focal streams, an interdisciplinary Masters (MNRES) and PhD.
Identify potential supervisors working in
your area. Faculty at UNBC are listed as
taking on students under the different degree options. View the lists of faculty and their research
interests in these different degrees and see who is working in areas
that interest you, and consider contacting them directly (for more detailed
information on this point, see “Advice on applying for
grad studies in NRES”) [link this to the more
detailed document]
Once you have identified and/or obtained
a potential supervisor, you will need to begin the application process. This process and the application forms are
found on the UNBC Graduate Programs page. Select the degree you are applying for, and
it will have a list of forms for you to fill out to apply.
In addition to the University application
form, TA application form and three letters of reference (which, please note
should include two academic references exclusive of your intended supervisor,
who can comment on your academic and research potential), you will have to
complete a College of Science and Management Funding
Sheet. This is completed
once a faculty member has been confirmed, and is agreement between you and the
supervisor over project and personal support.
If the supervisor is not confirmed at the time of application, you will
be required to complete this with your intended supervisor after the submission
deadline, and submit it prior to the file being considered complete. Make sure you will be contactable by email in
the period after submission if you have not completed this form.
If your application
is successful, you will be notified with a letter of offer from the registrars
office. All students who indicate they
wish to be considered (indicated on the registration material) will be put
forward for scholarships and awards automatically, and if successful will
receive follow-up letters indicating this support.
