Mission

The Natural Resources and Environmental Studies Institute (NRESi) brings together members of the University community to promote integrative research on natural resource issues. The goal is to address issues and find solutions within our natural resource systems and human uses of the environment, including issues pertinent to northern regions.

By enabling communication among researchers and external partners, NRESi opens doors to research opportunities from outside the University. In return, it provides a way to interpret research findings for dissemination beyond academia.

NRESi fosters communication and interaction among faculty, graduate students, and associated researchers, including those working with the two UNBC research forests and the Quesnel River Research Centre. It also facilitates interactions with local communities, management agencies, and research professionals, from both industry and government.

We create an important bridge to the Natural Resource & Environmental Studies (NRES) Graduate Programs, by providing students with opportunities to interact with researchers and to showcase their own research activities.
