Congratulations to 'Cohort 5'!

The May 2017 edition of the 'Bachelor of Education' newsletter celebrates the successful completion of the 2 year Bachelor of Education program at the Terrace Campus by our 5th cohort!

We can't wait to see them, as well as the other graduands, at our Convocation Ceremony on May 30.

Cooperating Teachers for B.Ed. Practicum Placements

I was a bit hesitant to take on a student teacher. I was worried about the extra responsibility, keeping my pacing for the rest of the year with Read Well, and worried about my students falling behind. Ed and Cathy assured me that things will be easier than harder. So I did it. I took a student teacher. I took a chance on a practicum student. I did that because someone took a chance on me. I felt like I was paying it forward. I’m so glad I did.
I had an amazing experience! My student teacher was bright and funny and brought so many amazing ideas into my classroom. Things were a little sticky at first, but it was so easy to see exactly where she was coming from. I was in her exact shoes only 6 years ago.
I enjoyed talking with my student teacher. We would chat about courses, assignments, professors and our different practicum experiences. We bounced back ideas, stories and funny moments between each other. It was so neat to be on this side of the fence. What a difference! Less pressure, so much more confidence.
It has been a great experience and I feel like I would take another final practicum student in a heartbeat. Thank you for this opportunity. I wish Maureen and the rest of her cohort the absolute best. Good luck all! And happy teaching! It really is the most rewarding profession. :)

2015-2017 Bachelor of Education Cohort comes to a close! Our 5th cohort has successfully completed the 2 year Bachelor of Education program at the Terrace Campus! May 2nd marked the final day of the program and like the start of each program, the group opens and closes at the Kitsumkalum river. A tradition shared almost 10 years ago!
