Parking

Whether you visit our facility to work out, as a spectator, or community group, please take a moment to read our parking policy. If you have any questions, please speak with our staff.

All vehicles must have a valid parking permit authorized for the Northern Sport Centre (NSC) parking lots. If you do not have a valid permit, parking must be paid. Parking is enforced 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

  • Download the PaybyPhone mobile app through Apple App Store for iPhones or Google Play for Androids. NSC parking lot location '3886' is required to validate parking.

Types of parking permits

The following permits are authorized for parking at the NSC lots. Any hang tag or card style permit must be valid, linked to the parked vehicle and clearly displayed. If this is not the case, paid parking is required.

  1. NSC permit: Linked to a valid NSC membership. Time is limited to three hours while using the NSC facility. This permit is only valid in NSC lots.
  2. NSC e-permit (virtual permit – not required to display): Linked to a valid NSC membership. Time is limited to three hours while using the NSC facility. This permit is only valid in NSC lots.
  3. UNBC student/staff monthly, general, or reserved permits (excluding Residence lot permits).

NSC lots are patrolled and enforced by UNBC Security Services and Parking Services. 

For the purpose of collecting unpaid parking fees and/or violation fees in respect of a vehicle parked on this lot, the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC) will provide the name and address of the registered owner of the vehicle to the operator of this lot and its agents.

Terms and conditions

  1. Permit issued (temporary and virtual) is the property of the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC). It is non-transferable.
  2. Permit holders are wholly responsible for any citations issued to them or to any vehicle bearing their permit.
  3. Parking permits are only valid with an active NSC membership. Permits are not valid if membership is cancelled, expired or on hold/suspended. This is regardless of permit expiry date.
  4. One permit is issued per person, per membership. We are unable to issue temporary parking permits for forgotten permits. Please pay for your parking at the pay station in the NSC lobby.
  5. One vehicle is linked per permit. Short term parking can be paid at the pay stations in the NSC lobby for other vehicles.
  6. A $5.00 administration fee may apply for multiple requests to link different vehicles to a single virtual permit.  For example, making the request more than three times per year.
  7. Physical permit tags are no longer issued. Temporary permits are no longer valid.
  8. NSC parking permits are only valid in the NSC parking lots.
  9. NSC parking permits allow for a maximum three-hour limit per visit.
  10. It is the member’s responsibility to update their account if there is a change of vehicle and/or license plate.
  11. It is the member’s responsibility to renew their membership and parking permit prior to expiry or you may be subject to a citation.
  12. NSC parking permit cannot be used to attend NSC/UNBC events, employment/work hours, or to attend classes at UNBC.

Failure to comply with any of the above conditions may result in loss of privilege or a citation.

Peak times for facility use

As Prince George's busiest multi-use recreation facility, we host a variety of local sports groups and community activities. Our busiest time is September to April, Monday to Thursday, from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Overflow parking is available UNBC’s Lot A. NSC parking permit holders are required to pay for parking if they park in the UNBC parking lots.
