    The Northern Sport Centre is the result of a unique partnership between the City of Prince George and the University of Northern British Columbia, which recognizes the importance of linking sport, education and the community.
    The Northern Sport Centre is situated at the entrance of the UNBC campus and a short distance from downtown Prince George. From health and fitness memberships to rental space for any individual or group, to training opportunities for high-performance athletes, the Northern Sport Centre brings together fitness and sport development.

    The Northern Sport Centre features a variety of sporting, educational and commercial facilities and services that include; a multi-purpose field house that can accommodate two soccer pitches on a Polytan turf system which has been installed on an earth base rather than concrete, a three lane, 280 metre track overlooks the gymnasium and fields house below with a five lane, 80 metre straightaway for sprints on a quality Polytan surface. The 22,000 square foot gymnasium contains three basketball courts and can accommodate seating for up to 2,000 spectators. The courts are also designed to accommodate volleyball, badminton and gymnastics equipment.

    The sport centre also includes offices, meeting space, officials rooms, concession, storage areas, fitness studio, weight rooms, squash courts and onsite services such as physiotherapy, sports medicine and message therapy.

    Pacific Sport Northern BC is located on site and provides various services including athletes testing, performance analysis, strength conditioning, as well as training and development programs for coaches and athletes.
    Accelerated Sport and Spine Physiotherapy and Orthotics Clinic also is located in the Northern Sport Centre.

      10 Distinct Fitness Training Areas
    • Zone #1: The Wolf Den Meeting room; as well as, low and no impact group exercise and multipurpose room.
    • Zone #2: The studio – sprung wood floor for our group exercise programs, dance and martial arts.
    • Zone #3: Our multipurpose conditioning room.  Selectorized and plate loaded Isolateral machines as well as free weights, mats, balls and more. 
    • Zone #4:  Free weights, Olympic/Power Rack, some selectorized machines and an open small group training area perfect for teams, group exercise or friends training together
    • Zone #5-8:  On the track level.  Part of our enhanced training plan.  We have created 4 circuit training areas around our 280m track.  Cardio machines such as treadmills, elliptical trainers, stairclimbers, rowing ergometers and bikes are located on the track level along with selectorized resistance machines, Balls, mats and BOSU.  4 areas with varied equipment providing multiple circuit training and cardio/resistance interval training opportunities.
    • Zone #9: The studio – group exercise programs, spin classes and small group training.
    • Zone #10:  Small board room for meetings.
    The Field House
    • 2 indoor 90x190 soccer fields 
    • Batting cage 
    • Indoor training and competition area for soccer, rugby, baseball, softball, ultimate, lacrosse, field hockey and other activities.
    • FIFA approved artificial turf .
    • Ho me to the UNBC Northern Timberwolves soccer teams.   
    The Gymnasium
    • 3 full size basketball courts
    • Spectator seating for over 2000 people.  
    • The courts are designed to support multiple user groups.
    • We host practices and competitions for Basketball, Volleyball, Badminton and other court sports. 
    • Home to the UNBC Northern Timberwolves Basketball teams.  (2009/2010 CCAA national men’s champions).   
    Squash Courts
    • 2 international size squash courts Included in your membership and can be reserved ahead of time for your convenience.
