Sean's research is focused on uncovering novel extracellular matrix protein changes that contribute to fibroproliferative and carcinogenic processes. Sean now teaches anatomy, neuroanatomy and histology laboratories for first and second year medical students. He is also involved in facilitating teaching workshops at the UNBC Centre for Teaching and Learning.
Research Focus:
Sean's research is focused on uncovering novel protein changes that contribute to fibroproliferative and onconogenic processes. He is using mass spectrometry and proteomics techniques to discern changes in diseased tissues. Subtle alterations in cell surface and extracellular matrix protein expression may be implicated in different cell signalling environments that contribute to pathogenic processes. Thus, improving our understanding of the proteins involved may lead to future development of molecular biomarkers of disease and of targeted molecular therapies.
