Vascular Immunology Laboratory
The
area of interest of the lab is understanding the impact of diseases and
disease stateson microcirculation. The microcirculation is key to
regulating blood flow to any given vascular bed which is vital for
maintaining normal funcation and viability. Our lab looks at the
microcirculation and the cellular components of the mirocirculation;
endothelium & smooth muscle.
The key
techniques used to evaluate the microcircualtion are intravital
microscopy; both whole vascular in vivo preparations and isolated
vessels.
Key Lab Projects:
-Development of new models to understand the pathogenesis of HIV.
-Understanding the role of the microcirculation in modulation of the immune response.
-Impact of the inflammation and inflammatory mediators on microascular control of flood flow.
