Manual of Common Diseases and Parasites of Wildlife in Northern British Columbia |
| Audience |
|
This manual was designed to be used by persons in northern British Columbia who encounter anomalies in wildlife. We hope it is particularly useful for groups that use wild animals as a food source, such as First Nations people or hunters, and for trappers that are in direct contact with wildlife. It is anticipated that this resource will provide information on specific wildlife health issues, and heighten awareness of wildlife diseases in general.

| How to use this manual |
|
Information on specific diseases can be accessed in several ways: users may choose to view information about a particular disease from a list sorted according to the
region of the body affected, or they may access information on specific diseases from a list sorted according the
agent or factor responsible for the disease.
In each disease summary, many terms are linked to a Glossary; clicking on the term will open a new window where the definition of the word is displayed. Links are also provided in most disease summaries to other web sites with further information about the disease. Pages are also provided with a list of wildlife or human health agency contacts. Finally, a form is available to provide appropriate information to wildlife health agencies should you submit carcasses or other samples for testing. |
