Academic Achievers

December 7, 2015

A record number of high-achieving high school students visited UNBC on Dec. 7 to learn more about the University and receive Academic Achiever Award certificates.

The 180 attendees toured the Prince George campus, attended two mock lectures, met current students and had their questions about university life answered.

Many of the Academic Achievers will make up UNBC’s Class of 2020 and all of them are eligible for a tuition waiver for one three-credit course in either the May 2016 or September 2016 semesters as well as a free application.

Attendance at the event has been increasing in recent years. Two years ago there were 139 Academic Achievers and last year there were 160.

The annual event included students from high schools in School District 57 (Prince George), School District 91 (Nechako Lakes), School District 93 (Conseil Scolaire Francophone), Cedars Christian School and Westside Academy. All of the Achievers are nominated by their schools.
