Men's soccer head coach Alan Alderson presents Habits of a Champion on Sunday

The UNBC Men’s Soccer team would like to invite you to a Coach Al Presentation this Sunday night at the Canfor Theatre on the beautiful UNBC Campus from 7:00-8:30 p.m. with the doors opening at 6:30 p.m.

Admission is $10 per person with all proceeds going to support your UNBC Men’s Soccer Program.

Presentation #1

Subject: The Habits of a Champion: The Pursuit of our Potential Part 1.
Presentation by: UNBC Timberwolves head coach Alan Alderson

Coach Al is known for his passion and enthusiasm and he will challenge and encourage you to pursue your potential through an enjoyable presentation that involves the weaving of stories and theory related to getting the most out of life.  You will discover some of the tools that Coach Al has used to help individuals and teams find their potential in sport, in their studies and in life.

About Coach Al:

Inspiring and gifted coach and lecturer known for building highly successful teams, exceeding expectations, helping individuals potentiate and inspiring students to strive to be really alive. A popular assistant professor at IWU and TWU in the Physical Education and Human Kinetics faculty specializing in teaching courses in leadership, sport, coaching studies, fitness, and health and wellness.  His coaching career includes over 20 years of successful head coaching experience. A coaching and playing career that has included professional, national, university, provincial and high level senior and youth teams.  Experience backed by an academic background which includes a Master’s Degree in Coaching Studies, a BA in Physical Education, a Diploma in Coaching Studies, and coaching credentials from national governing bodies in Canada and the United States.  Two and a half years ago, Coach Al was hired by the UNBC Timberwolves in Prince George, British Columbia to build a men’s soccer program that is now competing in Canada West, the toughest region in the country.

Cost: Tickets are $10 per person and can be purchased from any UNBC Men’s Soccer player or from Coach Alan Alderson with proceeds going to support your UNBC Men’s Soccer Program

Come join experienced soccer coach and lecturer Alan Alderson as he discusses:
  • Motivation and developing the desire necessary to pursue and accomplish your dreams and goals
  • Living the life of your dreams and being really alive
  • The power in taking action and getting things done
  • How to set yourself up for success
  • How to utilize the amazing power of FOCUS
  • Learning to live in and impact moments
  • Learning to be outcome motivated and process oriented
  • Learning how to overcome adversity
  • Building self-confidence
  • How BELIEF, taking ACTION and correctly interpreting your results can build your confidence and bring you success
  • How to make an impact and create “Raving Fans”
And as he helps answer the following questions:
  • What are the habits of a champion?
  • If success leaves clues, what are the clues I need to know?
  • How do you prepare to be at your best when your best will definitely be needed?  (Big test, major presentation, job interview, big game)
  • How do you prevent panicking or choking?
  • How do we motivate ourselves or others to do the tough things necessary to be a champion?
  • How do you help a person who is lacking confidence and is overcome by fear?
  • How do you deal with mistakes, bad results and failure?
  • Why are we most alive when we are pursuing a great dream?
  • How do you deal with the death of a dream?
  • What if you don’t have a dream?

Although these particular presentations will be oriented towards current university students, you do not need to be a university student to attend.  Everyone is welcome and will find themselves challenged to continue learning, growing and building the Habits of a Champion.
