VANCOUVER - The UBC Thunderbirds men's soccer team continued their winning streak Saturday afternoon with a 5-1 victory over the UNBC Timberwolves in their home opener at Varsity Field. Rookie Brandon Wallace scored the lone goal for the Timberwolves.

Sean Einarsson earned a brace while Harry Lakhan, Jules Chopin and Alex Orasa tallied the other markers for UBC. Brandon Wallace netted the lone goal for the visitors.

Early goals from the Thunderbirds set the tone for the rest of the game according to UBC head coach Mike Mosher. "We got what we wanted and scored early goals," said the national champions' head coach.

Canada West reigning Rookie of the Year, Einarsson, waited only two minutes before netting the first goal of the game. Only four minutes later midfielder Lakhan added the second goal. In the 18th minute, Chopin added the third goal leading UBC to a comfortable lead at the half.

At the halftime break UNBC made seven changes, which proved useful as their team dominated the first part of the second half, and were successful in finding the net on a corner kick. Wallace converted on the opportunity in the 69th minute on the corner taken by Luke Holmes.

Coach Mosher responded with the inclusion of rested player Navid Mashinchi who had an immediate impact on the team by beautifully setting up Orasa for UBC's fourth goal of the day (75th minute). Then two minutes later adding another assist on Einarsson's second goal of the game.

The No. 1-ranked Thunderbirds are now (3-0-0) on the year and will take on the Timberwolves (1-2) again tomorrow at 2 p.m. at Thunderbird Stadium.
