MSOC: Timberwolves end preseason in draw against WolfPack

Brandon Wallace heads ball against TRU

Prince George, BC - The men's soccer team finished their exhibition season with a 1-1 draw against the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack. Both team will start their Canada West campaign next weekend.

The WolfPack came out firing on Sunday afternoon at the North Cariboo Senior Soccer League (NCSSL) Fields. The visitors from Kamloops injected an element of urgency into their game that was missing the day before. The Timberwolves were forced to play in their own end for a majority of the first half but were able to enter the break unscathed. At halftime the teams were tied 0-0.

UNBC would be first on the board. A long clear out of the Timberwolves' half from Connor Noftle (Chilliwack, BC), put the ball at Conrad Rowlands' (Chilliwack, BC) feet, Rowlands played the ball to Brett Bobier (Prince George, BC). Bobier's shot bounced off the right post but left the TRU keeper out of position. Brandon Wallace (Chilliwack, BC) followed up and sent the ball to the back of the net in the 64th minute.

The Timberwolves lead did not last long. In the 77th minute Dion Gouldsborough worked his way past his defender into an attacking position. The WolfPack forward sent the ball past the outstretched finger tips of the UNBC keeper, bringing the game to a 1-1 tie.

The final score was a 1-1 tie in the second of two exhibition games between the UNBC Timberwolves and the TRU WolfPack. The Timberwolves will open their Canada West regular season play at home on Saturday, September 6 against Canada West new comer the UBC-Okanagan Heat. The game is set to kickoff at 2:15 p.m.
