Brief Biography of Dr. Keener
Dr. Keener was previously Professor of Computer Science at Indiana
University in South Bend. He served as Chair of the Department of
Mathematics and Computer Science at IUSB from 1986 to 1989. From 1972
to 1983 he was on the mathematics faculty at Dalhousie University. His

also holds an MSc in Computer Science from the University of
Oregon. He has authored or co-authored a large number of journal
articles, technical reports, and reviews and is Associate Editor of
the series Advances in the Theory of Computation and Computational
Mathematics. His research interests have centered on approximation
theory and functional analysis, though papers have ranged from
complexity of computation and neural networks to the application of
mathematical techniques to problems in archaeology. He is a regular
reviewer for the Mathematical Reviews and has refereed for a number of
mathematical journals. From 1997-98, Dr. Keener was acting dean of the College
