Teaching Excellence Awards
Dr Jennifer Hyndman wins the 2010 Canadian Mathematical Society Excellence in Teaching Award. CMS Press release:OTTAWA, Ontario -- The Canadian Mathematical Society (CMS) is pleased to award the 2010 CMS Excellence in Teaching Award to Professor Jennifer Hyndman, Department of Mathematics & Statistics, University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC). The Award will be presented at the Society's 2010 Summer Meeting in Fredericton, New Brunswick.
The Mathematics Department is the proud recipient of three UNBC Excellence in Teaching Awards. The winners are: Dr. Jennifer Hyndman, Dr. Lee Keener, and most recently Dr. Patrick Montgomery.Our department faculty have also been nominated for 7 teaching excellence awards, including 2 from outside British Columbia, and 1 from the Mathematical Association of America.
UNBC Silver Medal Winners
Two of our students, Mr Julian Buck and Mr Chris Scott, won the UNBC Silver Medal Award in 2005 and 2009 (respectively).Scholarship Awards
Mathematics student Mr Jeff Hnybida has received one of the top scholarships in Canada - a $4000 Millennium Excellence Award. Jeff is majoring in Mathematics and has close to an A+ average.
