Computer Account Information

What is my username/password?

Your username is the name given to you that you will use to access the following services:

  • Logon to computers in the general purpose computer labs
  • Check your e-mail
  • Print from the computer labs

  • Logon to Learn
  • Other miscellaneous services that you may need access to

Your  username is used in combination with your password to access all of these services.  It is the one piece of identification that you will use most while you are a student at UNBC.

How do I get my username/password or reset my password?

To obtain your username and password, or reset your password, you will need your Student Number, which is a 9 digit number, and your PIN number.  Your PIN is generally set to your birthdate in the DDMMYY format, although you may have changed this PIN.

To reset your PIN, you can go to www.unbc.ca/pinreset.  This will allow you to reset your PIN if you need to.

Or, if you already know your username and password, you can use that to set a new password for your account (Step #2 below).

You will go to the following website and use your Student Number/PIN number or your username and current password to get/reset  your username/password.

Now follow these instructions:

  1. Once you are at this website, select  the radio button for Student Number and PIN
  2. Fill in the Captcha and click Submit
  3. On the next page, you will type in your Student Number/PIN number, then select the “Change Password” button.
Or, use the second set of boxes and use your username and current password to change your password (for students who already know  their  username and password and just wish to set a new  password).   Now click "Change Password".
  4. Once you select the “Change Password” button, you will have to read the “Responsibility and Terms of Use” - take the time to read this before you select the “Accept” button at the bottom of the page.
  5. On the following page, your username will be at the top of the page, along with your e-mail address.  Write these down, as they will never change while you are a student at UNBC.  Now type your own password twice, bearing in mind the guidelines for password creation, which are found on this page.

If you still can not get your username/password, contact the Computer Helpdesk.
