Mission Statement
 
"The mission of Housing and Residence Life is to provide affordably priced living environments which are clean, attractive, well maintained, comfortable and safe; to ensure the orderly and effective administration of the services through effective management; and to provide a living/learning environment and related co-curricular programs which promote maturity and academic success."
 
Why Residence?
 
UNBC Student Residences provide a convenient, safe living environment conducive to academic success, social interaction, and personal growth. The place where life long friendships are made.
 
Located only a minute walk to the main university campus, Residence is home to 522 students in 129 four bedroom suites and 3 two bedroom suites.

Each suite is fully self-contained with: 
 
Kitchen
Electric range, full size refrigerator, and an abundance of cupboard space. Students are responsible for providing their own cooking & eating utensils, food, dishes and glassware.
 
 
Living Room
Dining room table and chairs, a small sofa, coffee table and a cable television outlet (included in rent). 
 
Bathroom
Large vanity with two sinks, large mirror, drawers, and cupboard space in an open area with separate locking rooms for the shower/tub room and toilet room.
 
 
Bedroom 
Each bedroom contains a captain's bed with three drawers (students must supply own bedding), and a desk with attached bookshelf and desk light. neyoh Residence has Extra Long Single beds (39.5 inches wide by 79.5 inches long by 7 inches deep) while keyoh Residence has regular twin size beds (39.5 inches wide by 75.5 inches long by 7 inches deep).
  • Connectivity to internet and local phone and Shaw TV service are available in each unit.  All services are included in the rent, but Residents must provide their own computer, television, and telephone hardware.
  • There are rooms available for students with special needs. These should be requested early.
  • All suites typically have roommates of the same gender. However, the floors are co-ed.

Study Lounges 
Each building has several study lounges available for residents' use.
 
Common Lounges 
There is one large Common Lounge located within each Residence building. Each lounge is equipped with a T.V., DVD player, air hockey table, microwave, sink, couches, tables and chairs.  neyoh Residence also has a foosball table while keyoh Residence has a pool table.
 
Laundry Facilities 
Coin operated washers and dryers are located on each floor.
 
Parking
Plug-in parking is available in a fenced lot .  (Additional charges apply).

Community Standards Agreement
The UNBC Student Residences provide a substance and smoke free environment focused on quiet study, which was established in response to a need expressed by students. Residents who agree to live in residence agree to uphold the following community standards and responsibilities as Residents.
  • This is a smoke free environment.
  • Although alcohol is not prohibited, mutual consent of all roommates is required prior to bringing any alcohol into the suite. Parties, common source containers, and events focused around alcohol are prohibited.
  • A level of comfortable living noise must be maintained 8:00am to 11:00 pm and "Quiet Hours" are in effect 11:00 pm to 8:00 am, 7 days a week. During the exam period, "23 Hour Quiet Hours" will apply.

Residence Council
The Residence Council is formed by elected members of the Residence Community and is responsible for addressing the concerns and needs of the residents. Members of Residence Council also provides a variety of programs and events for the residents.
