The Board of Governors of the University of Northern British Columbia, established in accordance with the University Act of British Columbia, is composed of fifteen members. These include eight members appointed by the Lieutenant Governor in Council, five elected from the University community (two students, two faculty and one non-faculty), the Chancellor and the President/Vice Chancellor. No remuneration is paid to any member of the Board of Governors in respect of their service as a governor.

 

The powers of the Board can be found in Section #27 of the Act, with the main responsibility being the oversight of the financial affairs of the University. The Board meets four times per year to conduct its general business, with one of these meetings held in the regions served by the University.  Additional meetings are held as required, and there is one training session annually.
