Dr. Nathan Andrews, Candidate

Title: International Development: The What, When, How, and Why

Dr. Nathan Andrews is 1 of 3 candidates for Assistant Professor in the Department of Global & International Studies.

The candidate will give a 30-minute mock lecture.

The following is an abstract of the candidate’s presentation:

As part of the set of lectures that introduce students to the fundamentals of global and international studies, the theme of international development exposes students to one of the terminologies that has driven international corporation (or imperialism), foreign aid, investments and other forms of global interaction among nation-states and non-state actors. The lecture will explore what international development means, how it is practised or theorized and why it is important to global studies. In so doing, we will delve into the various themes and issue areas that fit under the broader umbrella of ‘development’. After the lecture, students will be expected to understand and engage in basic-level discussions about the topic of international development.

Everyone is welcome!
