UNBC Continuing Studies Goat Island Historical Tour

If you are 50-plus years of age and looking for a fun activity to do as part of "Boomer - Aging with Attitude" Week, join us on a historical journey by jet boat to our classroom on Fraser River's Goat Island. Discover the past of the Lheidli T'enneh from Elder Robert Frederick, and learn about the history of the Grand Trunk Pacific Railway Bridge, sternwheelers of the Upper Fraser, Goat Island, reaction ferries of the North, Fort George and Hudson's Bay Company, pressented by Jeff Elder, cultural co-ordinator for the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George.

Participants will be taken in groups of five by jet boat from the Hudson’s Bay Slough near Exploration Place to Goat Island for this local history lesson.

Participants must be able to walk down a gradual grade bank to reach the jet boat.  Please wear appropriate clothing (e.g. gumboots and a jacket) as you may need to enter and exit the boat from shallow water.

Cost: $5/person plus tax
