The Northern Economics Student Society is comprised of UNBC students with keen interests in Economics. NESS organizes film nights and social activities, as well as an annual symposium.
Symposium
Each year, NESS organizes a symposium which brings together students and
faculty across the University, with community members, on economics
topics of contemporary relevance. Students get to see how practicing
economists apply theory to help them understand complex issues. It takes
economics beyond the classroom into the real world of policy analysis.
The NESS Symposium organizing committee identifies the topic and hosts
the speakers on the day.
The 2011 Symposium was on the Economics of Northern Gateway Pipelines
