| Our philosophy that children learn best through play is the foundation
for our daily program. Children choose activities that interest them
from a variety available every day. The room is set up each day to
stimulate curiosity, encourage problem solving and social interaction,
and for children to have fun! Just some of the activities available
during free play are listed below. |
|
| We offer:
- unstructured art that focuses on the process not the product: one table is set up with a specific activity while another table and the easel are always available for self expression and creation.
- sensory play: sand, water, rice, cornmeal, playdoh.
- dramatic play opportunities: dress up clothes, housekeeping area, a variety of prop boxes
- manipulative/construction toys: blocks, duplo, puzzles, pegboards, etc.
- gross motor play: climbers, use of UNBC aerobics room, balls, tricycles, the great outdoors!
- circle and story times circle: a time for songs, movement activities, science experiments, language games story: books, puppets, flannel board, and other storytelling mediums.
