The Passport Program
What is the Passport
Program?
The
Passport Program provides the passport owner with a way to document and record their
participation in professional development activities offered through the Centre
for Teaching, Learning and Technology (CTLT). These activities include the
annual Workshop on Teaching, the Teaching Assistant Workshops, lectures
in the Seminar Series, and other
events facilitated by the CTLT.
There are two components to the
Passport Program: the Passport of Participation and the Facilitator Passport.
What is the Passport
of Participation?
The Passport of Participation provides
a way of acknowledging and recording the owner’s participation in professional
development activities offered by the CTLT. The Passport can be used as part of
a teaching dossier to demonstrate the owner’s commitment to enhancing teaching
and learning at UNBC.
Who can have a
Passport of Participation?
Any member of the UNBC teaching
community who participates in professional development activities offered by
the CTLT may obtain a passport. This includes current and new UNBC faculty and
staff, graduate students, and College of New Caledonia (CNC) faculty. Passports
can be picked up at the CTLT.
How does the Passport
of Participation work?
At the end of every CTLT-sponsored event, the facilitator will offer a
signed record of completion sticker which is to be adhered to the passport. Sticker
sizes vary according to the length of the seminar or workshop. For example, a
small sticker (1”x4”) is used for events under three hours in length, while a
large sticker (2”x4”) represents an event three hours or more in length.
A completed
passport contains 12 small stickers or 6 large stickers or any combination of
the two that is the equivalent of 12 small stickers. Once the passport has been
completed, the owner is invited to visit the CTLT to choose a teaching and
learning resource from several that are available. The value of these resources
generally ranges between $10-15.

What is the
Facilitator Passport?
The Facilitator Passport
provides a record over time of the leadership role taken by the owner in
facilitating or leading organized professional development activities offered
by the CTLT. The passport can be used as part of a teaching dossier to
demonstrate the owner’s educational leadership activities and contributions to
enhancing teaching and learning at UNBC.
Who can have a
Facilitator Passport?
Any member of the UNBC teaching
community, who has led, facilitated or presented at workshops, seminars or other
events sponsored by the CTLT may obtain a facilitator passport.
How does the
Facilitator Passport work?
Facilitators/presenters/leaders
receive a CTLT issued sticker for each completed workshop, seminar or event,
which is to be adhered to the passport. Each sticker (2”x4”) has the title, the
duration and the date of the event, as well as the facilitators name on it.
A completed
passport contains six facilitator stickers. Once the passport is completed,
owners are invited to contact the CTLT. In recognition of the owner’s
leadership contributions to the teaching community at UNBC, they will be
offered a choice of one of several teaching and learning resources available.
These resources are intended to assist in developing, adapting and implementing
new ideas related to teaching and learning.
