  • If you are unsure whether you have met your graduation requirements you should contact the Advising department immediately at advising@unbc.ca or call (250)960-6306.
I don’t plan on attending the ceremony; do I still need to apply to graduate?
  • Yes, every graduand who plans on graduating and receiving a parchment must apply to graduate. In order to do this you must complete an Application to Graduate form, pay the $40.00 application fee to the Cashier’s office and provide the form to the Advising Office. Note, if you do not apply to graduate the advising department will not do your final audit on your file and you will not receive your parchment.
I don’t plan on attending the ceremony; how can I receive my parchment?
  • If you do not plan on attending the Convocation ceremony you can receive your degree parchment by courier after May 29, 2009. Each graduand will receive a Student Package in the mail and will be required to complete and return the Student Information Sheet included in that package. Please indicate on the Student Information Sheet how you would like to receive your parchment.
I’m not able to attend my ceremony, what should I do?
  • No problem, indicate on the Confirmation of Parchment and Convocation Information form that, you will receive in your Student Package, that you will not be attending and how you would like your degree parchment forwarded to you. We will be forwarding the degree parchments to students who have requested this method after May 29, 2009. Please note we will not be able to forward parchments to any student who owes any fees. You are responsible to confirm that all outstanding fees are paid by contacting the Cashier’s Office at cashiers@unbc.ca.
I will not complete my degree requirements until August or December.  Which ceremony do I apply for?
  • You are only able to participate in the May 2008 Convocation Ceremony if you have met your graduation requirements by May 28, 2009. Please contact the Advising Department at advising@unbc.ca to confirm whether you can meet your graduation requirements in order to participate in the May 2009 Convocation Ceremony.
My degree specialization listed on the SEC (?????) is not correct.  What should I do?

How will I know when my application to graduate has been approved?
  • Once you have applied to graduate Academic Advising reviews your application and sends an e-mail to your UNBC e-mail account regarding status of your application.  If you have not received an e-mail from your advisor, please contact the Advising Office at advising@unbc.ca.  Final approval for graduation is determined by the Senate, at which point a formal invitation will be mailed to the address on file at the Registar’s Office.
I am currently taking a course at another institution on a Letter of Permission for credit toward my UNBC degree.  What do I need to do to graduate?
  • You will still need to complete an Application to Graduate form and provide it to Academic Advising and pay the $40.00 fee to the Cashier’s Office. This will allow your advisor to do an audit on your file. Once you have completed the course you will need to request that the institution that you are taking the course at forwards an official transcript directly to the Registrar’s Office at UNBC.
I have missed the deadline to apply for graduation.  Can I still graduate?
  • Yes, please complete an Application to Graduate form, pay the $40.00 fee to the Cashier’s Office and return the form to the Academic Advising. Your advisor will do the audit on your file and contact you at your UNBC email account.
