 Can I register for courses after the registration deadline?
Students may register after the registration deadline for courses that have sufficient enrollment and seats available.
Can I register for a course and defer my payment?
No. Payment for Continuing Studies courses is due on registration..
How do I know which Continuing Studies courses I have to pay GST for?
Any
Continuing Studies course that is available for credit towards an
academic program of study is GST exempt. Should any student wish to opt
out of the credit for such a course, GST will be added to the course
registration fee.
I am GST exempt and when I try to register for a non-credit course online, I am still charged GST. Why is this?
Our
online registration system is currently not configured to handle
students who are GST exempt. Please use one of our alternative
registration methods to register for a non-credit course if you are GST
exempt (fax, phone, mail, in person).
How much will I have to pay for student fees on top of the registration fee?
Continuing
Studies students are not assessed UNBC student fees. Any student
registered for a UNBC Continuing Studies course need only pay the
course fee(s) listed through Continuing Studies.
I would like to audit a Continuing Studies for-credit course. Is there a reduced fee for auditing?
No. The course content and cost is the same, whether taken for credit or not.
Can I pay for a Continuing Studies for-credit course with a student loan?
In most cases, yes. So long as you are registered in an academic program of study approved for student loan eligibility as a full-time student, most Continuing Studies courses can be paid for by student loan and count towards your full-time status for loan purposes. The Continuing Studies for-credit courses count as elective credit towards your academic program of study.
Some Continuing Studies courses are not eligible for funding as they do not meet student loan requirements. These includes programs/certificates/courses designed to meet the needs of full-time members of the labour force. This includes the Certificate in Mental Health and Addictions, the Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Music Education and Wildlife Danger Tree Assessor Certification.
English Language training is also not eligible for student loan funding.

Does the UNBC tuition waiver program for staff/faculty apply to Continuing Studies courses?
No.
What is Continuing Studies' refund policy?
Full refunds are issued to any student who withdraws from a course a minimum of 10 days prior to the course start date. Any registrations cancelled after this date will forfeit all course fees.
Will I get a T2202A form for the Continuing Studies courses I took within the past year?
Not
all Continuing Studies courses are eligible for a T2202A. You will automatically be issued a T2202A form for any eligible courses taken with Continuing Studies. This form will be available for download from the UNBC website ( CLICK HERE for details on how to access your T2202A forms). In the event that a
student cannot access web for students or experiences difficulty with
viewing or printing, a hard copy receipt will be provided by the
Finance Office upon request.
If I register for a Continuing Studies course, do I get a UNBC student card?
No, but you can obtain one if you pay an additional fee. Please contact our office if you would like to do so.
If I regsiter for a Continuing Studies course, what UNBC services can I access?
Because
Continuing Studies students are not assessed student fees, student
services are not accessible. You may access these services for an
additional fee(s), over and above the course registration fee.
I registered for a Continuing Studies course. How do I find out my room number, course material requirements, etc.?
Confirmation
of enrolment will be distributed when course enrolment has been met or
five (5) dyas prior to the course start date by phone or email. If you
have not received course confirmation, you may check our course
confirmations online. Details will include class times, room numbers,
what to bring and directions with a map of campus.
A Continuing Studies course that I registered and paid for was cancelled. What happens now?
A
minimum number of registrations must be received by the registration
deadline listed in the catalog. If there is not sufficient registration
by the listed date, the course may be cancelled. Should a course be
cancelled due to insufficient enrolment or other reasons, a full
refund will be processed and sent automatically to any registrations.
I have to withdraw from a Continuing Studies course. Can my colleague attend in my place?
Sometimes. Please contact our offices for clarification. Transfers will not be accepted after a course has started.
I am not enrolled in a degree program. Can I still take a Continuing Studies for-credit course?
You bet! University admission requirements do not apply to Continuing Studies for-credit courses.
How do Continuing Studies credit count towards my degree?
Academic
credit earned through Continuing Studies is unspecified and treated as
elective credit hours. Credits earned in this manner are recorded
on a Pass basis or in accordance with the UNBC grading scale upon
successful completion. It is recommended that all students
consult an academic advisor prior to registering for a Continuing
Studies for-credit course taken for degree completion.
I recently completed a Continuing Studies course for credit. How do I transfer the credits to my academic transcript?
On
successful completion of a UNBC Continuing Studies for-credit course,
students must request transfer of the UNBC Continuing Studies credit to
their academic program of study. Students may request a Continuing
Studies transcript (unofficial, free of charge) from the Continuing
Studies office, indicating all relevant information pertaining to a
for-credit course. That student record will automatically be updated
with the course information, including final grade and credit hours
awarded. Students who require an official transcript of academic
credit, must request an official transcript from the UNBC Office of the
Registrar. There is a fee for official transcripts.
I would like to transfer my Continuing Studies credits to a degree program at another institution. How do I do this?
Students
who have successfully completed UNBC Continuing Studies courses for
academic credit may be eligible for transfer course credits to another
institution. Interested students should contact the institution of
their choice to determine if transfer credit is a possibility.
