The Wildland Firefighting Training Program is a three week program that provides participants with the skills and training to gain employment as a wildland firefighter in the province of BC. This program will provide the basic skills necessary to bring participants up to a Type II provincial standard.   The unpredictable weather and fires seasons in the province have created a strong demand for skilled wildland firefighters. This training has been developed to meet the demand for these skilled and qualified persons that the wildland fire fighting contractors in the province require. The program will provide real employment opportunities for first nations, forest workers and lesser skilled individuals looking to get back into the labour force.   The three week duration for this program is an appropriate length that will enable participants in the target audience to successfully complete the training requirements without undue hardship.
