Introduction to Prospecting

Introduction to Prospecting

Prospecting and the prospector are central to the discovery of new mineral occurrences and eventually of mines. Prospectors learn to recognize potential mineral deposits, and conduct basic initial exploration of minerals for bringing to market for potential buyers. This three-day course offers students an introduction to the basics of prospecting for bedrock minerals, and includes a full day in the field learning hands-on methods. You will learn to identify basic rocks and minerals, including ore minerals and how mineral deposits form. This course also covers the basic techniques of prospecting, how to stake a claim online and how to market your discoveries. Introduction to Prospecting is for anyone who enjoys rockhounding or being outdoors and wants to discover how to recognize mineral showings that might lead to mineral development.
