Advanced Event Management Professional Certificate

Cross country skiiers event management

In the Advanced Event Management Professional Certificate participants design, plan and coordinate an outdoor adventure event in Whistler, B.C. while earning their professional Event Coordinator Certificate from Tourism HR Canada (THRC)/emerit©.

This six-month program prepares students to obtain their professional Event Coordinator Certification from THRC/emerit© by providing an advanced hands-on learning experience through the design and implementation of an actual event held in Whistler, B.C. Using THRC standards, this interactive and collaborative program will equip students with the knowledge and skills to advance their careers in the event management industry.

The Advanced Event Management Professional Certificate takes the "class out of the classroom" by moving the learning environment into various Whistler-based venues that host events, offering practical, hands-on and highly interactive learning opportunities. All courses are one-to-three days in length and mandatory courses are run like an event itself. Throughout the program students will create their own reference handbook containing themes, venues, caterers, entertainers and other suppliers in order to give them the confidence, experiences and valuable resources they will need to run an outstanding event.

This program is ideal for a motivated, passionate and collaborative student who is working in the event industry -- with two or more years experience -- as well as those wanting to receive their professional Event Coordinator certification from Tourism HR Canada/emerit©.

* THRC/emerit© is Canada’s award winning training resources developed by Tourism HR Canada in collaboration with tourism industry professionals from across Canada.
