New Crop of Medical Students
The second group of 24 medical
students began studies last week after completing their first semester
at UBC. The students come from all over BC, and from as far away
as the Northwest Territories and Ontario. Click here for details.

In particular, our northern
students are Adam Watchhorn (above) from Chetwynd and UNBC grads,Jana Patenaude
(BSc Biol 2001, MSc CMHS 2004) and Amy Johnson (BSc Psychology 2004)
(top right) from Prince George. Dr. Nadine Caron (endocrine surgery and
epidemiology) is one of the many NMP teachers preparing for the new
semester (bottom right).
To
help encourage the students to stay in the North - and assist with the
high cost of their medical education - northern communities have
partnered with UNBC to create the Northern Medical Programs
Trust. A major fundraiser for the trust being held this
Saturday, is the 2nd annual Dr. Bob Ewert Memorial Lecture with Dr.
Gavin Stuart, Dean of Medicine, UBC, speaking on stem cell
research. Call 960-5750 for tickets or click here for more
information.

The Courtesan Prince
The first book in the Okal Rel
Universe saga by Lynda Williams was named Editor's Choice for December
2005 by the e-zine Deep Magic. Deep Magic can be downloaded free at
http://www.deep-magic.net/

from e-zine:
"The futuristic cultural clash in Lynda Williams'
latest work predates that of her first Ikal Rel Series work, Throne
Prince. Her evolved Earth pioneers from a 22nd centruy alpha
technocracy include one Ann of Rire, a fiery, reality-skimming, space
