Drilling for Water in Port-au-Prince, Haiti
UNBC Alumnus, James Adamson (BSc Geography 2004) is a Chicago based geologist/geomorphologist who has been working in Haiti doing water exploration for the past several years. He was in Haiti to drill water wells on La Gonave and was on a boat, about 30 miles NW of Port-au-Prince, when the disastrous earthquake hit.
James' family has informed us that he is okay and in now working with Haiti Outreach to help with relief efforts. He is currently drilling water wells for new communities being set up outside Port-au-Prince for displaced Haitians. James wants people to know that donations to Haiti Outreach go directly to the relief effort - "they are doing a million things here to help and the money would go as directly as possible to the relief effort".
