The Final Draft of the Academic Action Plan

June 23, 2017

Dear Colleagues,

We are on our final edits of the Academic Action Plan after having a tremendous level of participation by faculty, staff, and students in providing feedback. With a strong effort by the Academic Planning Teams, all feedback has been considered and a great deal of that input is reflected in the revised draft.

It was with considerable thought, insights, and involvement from across our community we see an excitement about our future. In anticipation, many community members have shared their desire to get on with implementation.  It is with this shared investment of energy, ideas, and commitment that we can make this a reality. Our faculty, staff, and students envision a successful future for UNBC with a lasting positive impact to the North and the world.

A few things to know about the process and our next steps:

  • The planning process was inclusive of our UNBC community and was from the ground up.
  • The document reflects what was heard throughout the engagement process.
  • Implementation will begin with adjustments to the 2018/19 Strategic Road Map that will guide the Integrated University Planning process for all units and programs at UNBC.
  • As noted in the draft Academic Action Plan, there is a need for more University community consultation to further evaluate and prioritize the recommendations.
  • The next step in the process is for Senate to receive the draft Academic Action Plan Report on June 28, 2017.

Thank you to all who have participated. Your input has greatly contributed to the ongoing success of our University.  We will keep you informed of progress as it happens and provide future opportunities to stay involved. If you have questions or are looking for ways to be involved as the process continues, please contact us unbcplan@unbc.ca.

Thank you,

Dan
